Title: Helicity in three-dimensional turbulence Abstract: Helicity plays an important role in many atmospheric, geophysical and astrophysical flows. Being an invariant of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations, non-zero helicity affects certain aspects of the turbulent flows. In this seminar I would discuss the effects of helicity on the energy cascade and small-scale intermittency of the system. Using the tool of Fourier-helical decomposition of velocity field we could understand the dynamics of the basic triadic interactions involved. I would show how some of the triads have more significance than others depending on the boundary conditions and forcing mechanism.
